I call my students my kids because in our year together, they aren’t just kids on my class list, they become a part of my life.
Back when I was a kid, when someone asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I always answer them ” I want to be a teacher” .I don’t know why I want to be a teacher on that time, maybe because I am inspired by my great teachers in school.
After I graduated High School, I wanted to enroll in Education course but my father let me took up Computer Science because year 2000 that was the year where computer courses are “sikat”. So I finished my 4 year Computer Science course year 2004 at Negros Oriental State University. Well, full of struggle because it’s more on programming and math subject. I like Math but not calculus. I always got headache if it’s calculus and programming already. I did not enjoy my college years but I did my best to passed all my subjects.
Then life took me to other places. I went abroad to work as an OFW (Overseas Filipino Worker). Particularly Taiwan and Singapore.
Time flies so fast. My baby girl is now starting to go to school so I decided to stay here in Philippines and focus on our life. I enrolled in Education Units at the same time taking care of my daughter and doing part time jobs like real estate agent, online shoppe, and Singapore recruitment staff.
With God’s love and mercy after my Education units, I passed the Licensure Exam For Teachers last August 2014 (Secondary TLE major). I started teaching at WISE School Of Future Leaders on June 2014 as a kindergarten teacher. Then had my Masters degree in Education at Laguna College of Business and Arts for my professional growth.
Being a teacher is not about yourself, not the salary or the financial benefits given by the school. If you want to be rich then teaching is not for you.
Yes! Teaching is a challenging job with many unique frustrations. It needs patience, creativity, communication, classroom management, and flexibility Skills. As a kindergarten teacher you have many responsibilities as many of your students experiencing school for the first time. You will be teaching basic reading and writing and showing them how to behave in the classroom and play nicely with others. They were very curious, many of them loves to ask questions. When something goes wrong just breathe and stay calm.
I enjoy my life teaching kindergarten. I feel so proud of myself every time they learned to read since it’s their first stage of learning how to read. It makes me amaze when they pronounce the word correctly. This is a blessing that allows me to stay young at heart. And of course they teach me that Life is beautiful and something to be celebrated and enjoyed.
